Many changes with the v2.3.0
After four days of hard work, here comes a new version, which brings many features and updates. Thank you very much for your valuable feedback.
Here is the list of changes:
- Automatic synchronization: this feature is now available and can be customized through the "Settings" screen via many options. It is disabled by default. This is still beta, but should work reasonaly well. If any problem occurs, you can disable that feature
- Synchronization: an ongoing notification is displayed while synchronizing with RTM/Toodledo. Moreover, new synchronization-specific icons are displayed. Two synchronizations cannot run at the same time anymore, but if something wrong occurred during a synchronization, it is always possible to force a new one via the "Synchronize" menu entry
- RTM / Toodledo settings: they are now accessible through the "Settings" screen
- Check for update: a button is now available in the "About" screen, which directly redirects the end-user to the Android Market
- Database location: the location of the TooDo database can now set on the SD card. This can be achieved via the "Settings" screen. With that feature, you can backup your data by just copying the "/sdcard/TooDo/TooDo.db" file wherever you want to
- Application size: the .apk bundle is now 1 MB large instead of 1.4 MB. Once installed and when having the database on the SD card, the Android device application manager reports TooDo now takes 3 MB, but this is a rounded figure. Actual size is about 2 MB.
- Reminder sound: fixes the problem of the reminder sound being played when changing a to-do sound while editing
- To-do completion gesture: by swiping a to-do on the to-dos list screen, its state is swapped
- To-do sending: this has been disabled for the moment, since it needs a major overhauling. This feature is still on our to-dos list, but we need to better think on how to implement it
- Smart folders filters: the do-dos creation and importance filters are available. Fixes the problem of the category filter which not properly saved when editing a smart folder. Fixes the problem of the settings not being properly persisted. There will be soon the possibility to select multiple contexts and categories
- Smart folder shortcut: it is now possible to create a shortcut on a smart folder to the Android idle screen. This is feasible through the smart folders list screen, by using the contextual menu and hitting the "Create Shortcut" entry. This is very handy, since it allows the end-user to jumpt directly on a specific folder
- Reminder screen: changes much its layout and the available options. Should be much more practical
- To-do importance: no more flag icon is being used, but a color instead. The same convention is used: red for paramount, orange for important, green for normal, blue for low
- To-do edition screen: has been enhanced, in order to ease it. The importance flag is now on the "Main" tab, the possibility to edit the category has been removed, and the URI control has been enlarged
- To-do view screen: adds the creation date display
- "Home" screen: the TooDo "Home" screen has been turned into a "Dashboard" screen. This dashboard screen has been removed from the main screen tab, and its layout has been totally revisited. It is accessible from the main screen via the menu
- Hard-reset: it is now possible to hard-reset the TooDo database, i.e. reset the internal TooDo database to its initial state. This option is available in case there is a major database corruption. Only use it provided the support team told you to
- Addition/modification toasters: they are not displayed any more when changing the Android device orientation
- Contexts and categories list screen: the detailed information has been removed to make the UI smoother
- Contexts list screen: when a context has no description, the "No description" label is displayed
When upgrading to that version, TooDo will disable all alerts: please, go to the "Dashboard" screen and re-enable them.
You can download this version here and, as ever, ask for some support here. The list of the pending tasks concerning TooDo development is available here.
