Background synchronization with the v2.1.5

by Édouard Mercier last modified 2008-12-09 10:48

This new release addresses several reported bugs, but also offer some enhancements regarding the ergonomics. Thank you for your valuable feedback, your suggestions and ideas, and please keep up this way.

This version contains very heterogeneous changes. As you can see, TooDo is progressively adopting most of the Android best practices, so that you are given an application that fits into Android philosophy, and that seems more "built-in". There is still some work, but if you remember the verry first v2.0, you won't miss all the improvements!

  • Shortcut button: the shortcut button and dialog box have been replaced by the native Android menu. This answers a request from end-users, and make TooDo more Android-natural
  • To-do creation shortcut icon: a shortcut icon for adding a to-do from the Android "Applications" screen is available. As long as Android does not open the widget API, this makes a to-do creation possible directly from the Android idle screen if the end-user creates a shortcut
  • Synchronization: when running the synchronization is run from the menu entry, it is done in the background. A notification is issued when the synchronization process is over, and a dedicated screen is displayed. This screen will be enhanced
  • RTM synchronization: the synchronization used to crash when a to-do due date is both undefined/unset in RTM and TooDo. The notes synchronization used to force TooDo to crash when attempting to view the notes
  • Categories list screen source icon: the source icon of the category is now better displayed
  • To-do view: when the description is very long, the screen can now be scrolled
  • To-dos, categories, contexts list screens: when an item name/title is too long, it is truncated with an ellipsis, and it is displayed on a single line

We know that most of you do not like much the icons and colors of the application, and we are working on that. But for the time being, we bring our efforts to fix bugs and answer all end-users functional expectations. You should have a totally new user interface by the end of the year.
