Toodledo synchronization

by TooDo last modified 2009-01-25 15:00

TooDo offers synchronization with the Toodledo tasks management service. This page focuses on the specificities of Toodledo.

This documentation is based on TooDo v2.1.4. It is not complete, and will be updated progressively.

What is not synchronized

All the concepts of Toodledo are synchronized (this is simpler to address the topic this way, rather than having to list exhaustively all unmapped features), except:

  • Notes: since Toodledo does not support this feature on a per task level, they only exist on TooDo's side. The explanation of a Toodledo task is mapped into the TooDo description field. Moreover, the "Notebook" is not synchronized nor imported in TooDo
  • Tags: they are present for the moment in TooDo, thus they only live in the Toodledo world
  • Status: same thing as the tags
  • Repeat: for the moment, TooDo does not support recurring to-dos
  • Length: the concept of length in TooDo does not exist, hence it only exists in the Toodledo's world
  • Timer: there is support for the time tracking when working on a to-do in TooDo
  • Goals: the concept of goal does not exist in TooDo
  • Files: files do not exist in TooDo, and it is very likely that this feature will never be available
  • Star: only exists on Toodeldo's side

There is a special mapping about the Toodle "Start" field: it is mapped as the reminder date in TooDo.

Contexts

For the time being, TooDo only replicates Toodledo contexts in TooDo, and not the opposite. This involves that, if you set a context which has no Toodledo counterpart, to a synchronized to-do, this context will not be set in Toodledo when synchronizing.
